As 2024 comes to a close, Auto Monkey has a lot to celebrate. This year, we closed out with 101% revenue growth, grew our contract team of mechanics by 20%, expanded our presence to 35 states, and introduced some exciting features in the app. Our mission to make car repairs convenient, transparent, and reliable has resonated with customers, propelling us to new heights in the mobile mechanic space.

By the numbers, we serviced 25% more vehicles than in 2023, and customer satisfaction scores averaged 4.8 stars across platforms. These achievements are a testament to our incredible team and the trust our customers place in us.

Our mission in this industry, as contrite as it may sound, is a mission of service. Service to customers. While we provide common product service as does every automotive repair shop in the world, our approach is based more on a customer service. And is largely the reason why mechanics and customers are flocking to Auto Monkey over other brands. It's because we strive to combine the convenience of High-Tech with the power of High Touch. 

Industry Trends in 2024

The automotive repair industry underwent significant changes this year. According to market research:

  • The mobile mechanic segment grew by 15%, compared to an 8% growth in traditional repair shops. At Auto Monkey this came as no surprise. We actually anticipated this level of growth considering the level of inquiries we get weekly. 

  • Shop rates in the automotive industry increased by 5-7%, reflecting the growing demand for on-site services. However, as promised, Auto Monkey did not raise their rates. And, we continue to provide quality services at a lower cost, while still paying our mechanics more than any of our competitors.

  • Customers continue to prioritize convenience, with over 60% of respondents in a recent survey saying they would choose a mobile mechanic over a repair shop for routine services.

This growth isn’t surprising. With the rise of remote work and busy lifestyles, more people are looking for services that come to them. Mobile mechanics save time and eliminate the hassle of arranging transportation or waiting in a repair shop lobby.

What’s Ahead for 2025?

Looking ahead, the automotive repair industry is poised for even more innovation. Here are the key trends shaping 2025:

  • Localized SEO: Customers increasingly search for “mobile mechanic near me,” making localized web pages a crucial strategy.

  • Rising Labor Rates: Labor rates are expected to grow by 4-6% industry-wide, with mobile mechanics likely to see the highest increases due to demand

  • Expansion of Mobile Services:
    • Expect mobile mechanics to offer even more specialized repairs, from EV battery replacements to ADAS calibrations.
    • Expect to see even more mobile mechanics on the road sporting their own banner. With growing anxiety in traditional brick-and-mortar repair shops due to low wages and over-worked employees, mechanics are starting to feel emboldened by apps such as Auto Monkey and striking out on their own.

  • Growth in the after-market parts sector which will directly affect mobile mechanic's ability to provide faster service. As continued government regulations are pushing to produce more new EV vehicles, yet because the average household income is trending 5% or more below inflation rates, we will an uptick in automotive repairs for gasoline and diesel vehicles.

At Auto Monkey, we’re committed to staying ahead of these trends. In 2025, we plan to:

  • Improve our presence nationally, by focusing in on a few top markets. 
  • Roll out enhanced features in our app, including real-time repair tracking, improved calendaring and reporting, along with easier customer support access.
  • Adding a new service vertical. We won't mention much more than that here, but be on the look out for an exciting announcement sometime 2nd quarter. 
  • Continue optimizing our SEO rankings and ensuring we’re the top choice when customers search for local repair services.

This high level of customer satisfaction is mirrored by their strong online ratings, making Auto Monkey a preferred choice for many consumers."
